Case Studies and Feedback

The Old Kennels, Laurieston.

Conservation Landscaping. Creation of two ponds, with associated wetland areas, to encourage wildlife to occupy landscaped area.

Nancy Harrison - "We have found working with Ian Aitchison very successful. He helped us to meet very particular requirements for habitat recreation. He was careful to understand what we wanted, and showed his experience in the creation of two ponds."

East Kirkcarswell, Dundrennan.

Build up hardcore roadway across wetland area to allow farm vehicle access on to hill ground beyond. Also land drainage to take away water coming from several natural springs and old existing broken drainage on grazing land.

Nigel Robertson "Ian has put in a new road and installed some draining for us in the past year. Both jobs have been completed to a high standard, on time, and by very consciences pleasant operators. I would happily recommend them to anyone and look forward to using them again in the future".

Balmangan Farms Limited, Dundrennan.

Land Drainage: Fields which had not been maintained for a long period of time and which had extensive drainage problems were brought back to full agricultural use by intalling new drainage systems, removal of stone and rocky outcrops, and levelling of the field for ease of cropping.
Water Supplies: Assisted the farmer in the expansion of a large and modern dairy cattle management and milking system, through the creation of a water lagoon with the necessary tracks for pipes and cables, and tank and pumping system largely installed by ourselves.
Steading Improvement: A complete landscaping of the steading at Hazelfield Farm including management of surface and storm water which previously encroached on the steading grounds. The grounds were thereafter landscaped with the use of hardcore crushed and screened on site.

Robert (Mac) Wallace. "We have been privileged to work with Ian over the last few years on numerous, diverse projects. His knowledge on drainage has allowed us to create arable/silage ground from very wet grazing land. His understanding of levels and the run of storm water has turned an unsightly steading into a well landscaped and easily maintained site. His expertise was also used in the installation of two new water supplies. We cannot recommend Ian highly enough".
